Foundation Architecture

London Commercial Architects

Foundation were appointed in 2001 to assess the opportunities for the restoration and conversion of this C18th farm yard in the London Borough of Harrow. Previous advice had been given that a change of use would not be acceptable to the Council and indeed the project commenced with a principle objection from the Local Authority to an alternative future for the site and its Listed Buildings.

By employing a structured approach to the planning for this site Foundation achieved a residential permission for two houses in parallel with the restoration of the two grade II listed barns. Inevitably such a locally contentious proposal required careful negotiation through the planning process and the services of planning consultants and expert witnesses at the 5 day planning appeal and public enquiry.

The scheme is now being constructed on site and progress can be seen
here.

Foundation regularly take schemes to planning appeal and many of the significant permissions that we have achieved are the result of sound planning arguments made at the application stage and secured at appeal. We approach every application in the expectation that the scheme may be decided by the Planning Inspectorate and ensure that our applications are supported with appropriate documentation and expert input from the outset.
